Nailed it 🎯. Interesting, since we have watched them trample all over the Constitution and try to re-write it, change it and amend it (over the years) to fit whatever interpretation gives them the most power over the peasants. The Declaration is the foundation! Thanks for pinpointing that which caused me also, to question how they get away with so much tyranny when The Constitution was supposed to protect us. Also explains why they are trying to get rid of our Creator. Without our Creator (in their minds) we have no unalienable rights.

You nailed it. Thank you! In the ever increasing shrinking capacity of the human brain, the lack of that special feeling of liberty is the spark that is noticeably absent as we are beat over the head by reasons to act a certain way. Or not. Unfortunately, so many gave in and some gave all. The days are endless ups and downs in my resolve to like people or continue to be disgusted by their actions and acceptance of 'things'. As I went to write on the 4th of July, I realized that it was not the Constitution but the Declaration that is the hinge to our freedom and liberty. Period. I will one up your 'doofus' and proceed to call them nihilist Orcs. Thank God there are amazing people like you!♥

Amen! Excellent post SheThinksLiberty! I have to read it over again as it is packed with info. I agree with your main thesis - the Declaration over the Constitution.; it makes perfect sense. Our Christian roots are so very important; the main reason why we are seeing marxist/communist trash in the USA is because people actually think they are their own. They are not. The Creator - creature relationship has been destroyed for a lot of people - it takes repentance and a lot of work to restore it. May God continue to guide you and bless you and your family. Thank you, Steve. I wholeheartedly recommend the Vieira piece. He so deftly, point by point, proves his thesis re the Declaration. Hubs and I saw Dr. Vieira at Faneuil Hall Boston years ago, the same event with G. Edward Griffin and others. Became a big fan then.

As I was analyzing my annoyance 😊 with this "fetish" over the Constitution, the "tapes" in my head came back around to this article. I'd read it probably 15 years ago. So thankful it's still available.

A few of the highlights for me:

"Thus, the source of their authority was objective, not subjective. It lay outside of "the good People" themselves, in "Laws" of an order higher than any merely human ordinance."

"That "all men … are endowed by their Creator." Man is not the supreme authority in his own life, from whose judgment of his own actions lies no appeal."

"Yet, although such is contemporary Americans’ legal heritage, even some self-styled patriots contend that all too many of their countrymen have devolved from "good People" into "sheeple" who will neither stand up for their rights nor perform their duties — and that therefore this country is doomed to lose its freedom in the near future. The basis for this dire prediction? That, to date, Americans in large numbers have acquiesced in their own increasing serfdom. This evidence may be true, as far as it goes; but because the evidence does not go far enough, the conclusion drawn from it is false."

"When the evils assaulting them became insufferable, they were compelled to act. And what happened then is happening now."

Amazing article - it actually gave me hope. I look for root causes to problems - it's obvious the author does the same and so do you SheThinksLiberty. The root of the problem today is that many, many people do not put God first in their lives. We must put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, just like the founders of our country did, if we are to succeed in defeating this ugly evil that has been exposed to the world over the past three years.
