Meanwhile, in Idaho, Another Elected Doofus
Wants to Make Lying About Someone (or something?) a Felony
As one critic of the measure put it, “My concern is that if you make every liar a felon, then we’re going to be in a lot of trouble—not enough room in our jails.”
That’s pretty funny. Because it’s true.
Right now, making false statements about someone is a civil matter. The object of the falsehood — the individual — can pursue civil charges against the person making the false statement. If damage can be shown, along with proof the statements were false, courts can impose civil penalties on the individual who made the false claims.
Now another meddling fool in Idaho wants to make that…a felony. That is, doofus boy wants to put charges of making false statements into the hands of state prosecutors! Turn a civil matter between individuals into a criminal matter managed by the States’ prosecutors!
“They” cannot leave anything alone.
That meddling fool’s name? Moyle. Here is what the genius had to say about the basis for his stance:
Moyle, a Republican, has defended the bill by invoking a narrow interpretation of the First Amendment. “I’m a firm believer in our First Amendment right, but I also believe that our founding fathers did not include in the First Amendment as being able to lie about somebody,” Moyle declared.
Pet Peeve Alert - The “Founders” vs. the “Framers”
OK. First of all, the “Founders” of the new nation did not write the federal Constitution. “The Founders” wrote the Articles of Confederation.
John Dickinson, the “Penman of the Revolution,” wrote the fourth version of the Articles. This version with edits for length became the framework for the new American confederation of nations, a.k.a, States.
The “Framers,” OTOH, overthrew the Articles and replaced it, framing a new government with a new governing document called the “Constitution.”
Was there some overlap between those who led and participated in the revolt against Great Britain and those who favored overthrowing the Articles of Confederation?
Sure.
Benjamin Franklin & George Washington to name two. Those opposed — and there were many — include Sam Adams and John Hancock, both of whom signed the Declaration of Independence.
George Mason? You’ve heard of him. He wrote the Virginia Declaration of Rights. Mason strongly opposed the new government and its constitution. No Bill of Rights? So strong was his opposition to the new constitution’s glaring omission, he stated the following:
“I would sooner chop off my right hand”
Than vote in favor of this new constitution without a Bill of Rights. So he didn’t.
Simplifying, were it not for “anti-federalists” such as George Mason — a man who wrote the foundational document for the Declaration of Independence and who opposed the Constitution for its lack of a Bill of Rights — we would not have a First Amendment.
We wouldn’t even have a Bill of Rights. James Madison, “Father of the Constitution,” thought a Bill of Rights unimportant, unnecessary. Only slowly did he change his mind…and only begrudglingly did he write the Bill of Rights.
And now doofus boy says he knows what “the Founders” intended for the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. And to him that means that saying nasty things, if false, should subject one to felony charges.
Ummm…yeah. This kind of crap happened under the King…when the colonists said nasty things about the mentally unstable fat boy named King George III.
Ugh. Doofus Boy should read the article below and learn about how Jefferson and Adams went at it.
Here’s the article: https://www.newstarget.com/2025-03-06-idaho-turning-lies-into-felonies-threat-free-speech.html
Meanwhile, not a single arrest has happened on the national stage. Not one. For all the criminality — real crimes by people in this country across this nation and others — over decades — that has resulted in fraud, abuse, death and destruction — not a single arrest.
Yet in a little corner of the world known as Idaho, we’ve got a doofus who wants to make saying nasty things about public officials a felony…
Said it before, and I’ll say it again: Government attracts the worst among us…and brings out the worst in them…like this Idaho guy who, sadly, has loads of company…and we’re all the worse for it.
As a follow up, in the same state, there is a woman, Leslie Manookian at the Health Freedom Defense Fund, who totally gets "it" and has done more than ALL the politicians in the USA to preserve the freedoms of the people.
For example, the bird-flu bullshit:

The levels of stupidity and ignorance have reached record levels.
Peace.
Thank you SheThinksLiberty. It's one of the lessons of "The Road To Serfdom" - the worst of the worst get to the "top". You truly cannot make this stuff up; idiots keep repeating mistakes made throughout history because they are truly ignorant and incompetent. Protect yourself at all times. Peace.
